A Weekend in Chicago

1073 Views

My sisters and I decided to make a quick turn around trip to Chicago just to enjoy some time together and the delicious food of Chicago.

Our first night in town we went out to the Sound Bar. After a couple of hours dancing, we decided to get a bite to eat at a 24 hour diner called the Golden Nugget Pancake House. We tried a little bit of everything and it was all good. The chicken fried steak, the pancakes, the burger, everything! 10 out of 10 would recommend.

The next morning we made a CVS run to grab water and snacks for the room. Nearby was a Stan’s Donuts, so we popped in for a couple of fritters and coffee to take back to our hotel. We stayed at the LondonHouse, a Curio by Hilton hotel located on the Magnificent Mile. The hotel is super stylish and our room had a beautiful view of the city.

Once we were dressed for the day, we headed up to the 22nd floor to take in the view from the rooftop. The hotel is a short walk to Millennium Park, where the famous bean is located. We snapped a few pictures there and then walked over to Willis Tower. Sadly, the wait to visit the Sky Deck was two hours so we didn’t go up. Hopefully, I’ll make it up the next time I’m in Chicago. By this time we were hungry and decided to hit up some BBQ place in the southern part of Chicago.

That night we went out again for a few hours and then called it a night. We were exhausted the next day, so we just wandered the city a little. We had lunch at Giordano’s, known for their deep dish pizza, and then went to a pop-up shop thing before catching our flight back to Phoenix.

Being in Chicago reminded me of London. Don’t get me wrong they are two very different places, but I miss the feel of a big city. London was home for a year and a half and I’d love to live there again someday, but until that day comes I’ll get my fill of the city life with little trips to Chicago and other metropolises.

What a wonderful weekend. I have not been to Chicago in a year and your post makes me want to go back! Love Giordano’s for both the pizza, and the look on peoples faces when their pizza arrives! Thanks for sharing!

Chicago is at the top of places in LA to visit. I think it looks like such a fun city — vastly different from LA (where I live) and NYC (which I feel like everyone goes to.)

    Lovely post! x
